Threshold Timberframes is offering all three of these experiences rolled into one. Experience living in a timberframe in Hartselle, Alabama while learning traditional timberframing technique. The best part is that you will be learing while cutting the pieces for your own timberframe cabin!
This 2 week apprentice program can be scheduled through the contact page on the website. In the 2 weeks you will learn:
Selecting and grading timbers
Square Rule technique
Specialty tool use
Trial fitting and material handling
Finishing, chamfering and sanding
An estimated 25% of the frame will be completed in the course. At the completion of the course the timbers (finished and unfinished) will be loaded to send to your location for completion on your own.
The cost of the program is $15,000 and includes:
Lodging in a furnished 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1200 sq. ft. house on site
Complete set of plans
Poplar timbers and hardwood pegs for 20x20 Cabin (see For Sale section of website)
One on One daily instruction
Consultation up to completion and raising of the frame.
Only one or two apprentices can be taken on a year so be sure and contact us ASAP about possible dates. If the 20x20 frame isn’t right for you contact us with your needs and we can tailor the course around the frame you would like to build. Bring your hand tools, spouse, family, and even pets to have and adventure, learn timberframing, and take a timberframe home with you!
